MK Lit Fest 📚

A fabulous festival of books, words, writers and ideas that celebrates everything literary, bookish or wordy, right here in Milton Keynes!

The Milton Keynes Literary Festival (MK Lit Fest) is scheduled from 9th to 12th April, 2025, offering a diverse array of events across various locations in Milton Keynes. The festival celebrates literature in all its forms, featuring sessions with independent authors, engaging workshops, and a dedicated children's literature segment.​

Highlights of the Festival:

  • Ingram Day for Indie Authors: On Wednesday, April 9th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, IngramSpark Headquarters in Milton Keynes will host a free event (booking essential) tailored for indie and self-published authors. Attendees can tour Ingram’s world-class printing facility, gain insights into marketing, distribution, and metadata, and connect with fellow writers.
  • Workshops: A series of workshops will be held on Friday, April 11th, at Central MK Library.
    • Finding Your Voice: 10:00 am – 12:00 noon; £20/£15. Author Michael Stewart explores the relationship between voice and style, guiding participants to develop their unique writing voice. ​
    • What Editing Is: 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm; £20/£15. Aki Schilz offers insights into professional editing processes, helping writers understand what publishers seek and how to refine their manuscripts.
    • Spinning Tales from Myth: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm; £20/£15. Zoe Gilbert delves into using myth and folklore as foundations for fiction, providing tools and exercises to craft new stories from traditional sources.
  • Children's Lit Fest: On Saturday, April 12th, Central MK Library will host several events for young readers.
    • Maya & Marley and the Great Big Tidy Up: 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm; £5 + £3 per accompanying adult. Laura Henry-Allain MBE brings her picture book to life, emphasizing the importance of caring for our world.
    • Dadbot: 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm; £5 + £3 per accompanying adult. Jack Noel presents a humorous event filled with robots, puns, and drawing, suitable for children aged 6 and above.
    • The Letter with the Golden Stamp: 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm; £5 + £3 per accompanying adult. Award-winning writer Onjali Q. Raúf shares the adventures of Audrey, a young carer and stamp collector, in this engaging session for children aged 8 and above.
