I took my 11-year-old son along for an afternoon at the venue over the weekend to put their activities to the test – and honestly, we came away absolutely buzzing from it.

Located upstairs next to a red white and blue logo for revolucion de cubaRevolución de Cuba Milton Keynes in 12th Street, a logo for mr mulligans that says eat drink golfMulligans is far bigger than you’d expect when you first walk in. The venue is packed with things to do, creating a lively, energetic atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

The main attraction is the two themed crazy golf courses – Enchanted Forest and Underwater Kingdom – positioned on either side of the venue. I’ll admit, I was slightly nervous before we arrived because the last time we played adventure golf a couple of years ago, my son definitely didn’t have the patience for it. Thankfully, this trip completely changed his mind.

Not only did he love it, but he became fiercely competitive almost instantly. Every hole turned into a battle, with the scores staying incredibly close throughout both courses – I only managed to win by one or two points each time! The Enchanted Forest course felt especially family-friendly with plenty of fun features, while Underwater Kingdom added a bit more challenge, with a couple of holes really testing our patience and accuracy. It struck the perfect balance between fun and competitive, which made the whole experience genuinely enjoyable for both of us.

Once we’d conquered the golf courses, we grabbed a drink and headed over for a game of pool before trying rebound shuffleboard – which turned out to be way harder than either of us expected, but completely addictive once you get into it. Mulligans also offers electronic darts, which looked great fun, although we didn’t get chance to give them a go during this visit.

One thing that really stood out was the atmosphere. The staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the whole venue had a relaxed social vibe that made it feel more than just an activity bar. You could easily pop in for a few drinks and a casual game of pool without even booking one of the bigger activities.

They’ve also recently launched a brand-new food menu and although we didn’t eat during this visit, the options sounded ideal for a fun day or evening out. Expect pizzas, hot dogs, dirty fries, nachos and chicken wings, alongside a brilliant kids’ option of nuggets and chips with a cordial for just £6.

What makes Mulligans work so well is that it really does cater for everyone. It’s perfect for family afternoons, date nights, birthday celebrations or groups of friends wanting something different to do alongside drinks and food.

The venue also regularly runs themed offers and events, including their recently launched Friday Night Rewind experience (£24.50 per person), which combines crazy golf, bottomless drinks, comfort food and a playlist full of Y2K throwbacks. If you remember MSN statuses, burnt CDs and peak 2000s party tunes, this sounds like a brilliant night out.

Overall, we genuinely loved our time at Mulligans. For my 11-year-old son – who would usually choose gaming online with his friends over almost anything else – this was a massively successful afternoon out, and that alone says everything.

Huge thanks to Mulligans for having us – we’ll definitely be back for round two!
