Give in the Right Way This Christmas

This Christmas, people across Milton Keynes are being encouraged to give in the right way by using the refreshed Tap to Donate machines located across the city centre.

With a simple £3 tap of a contactless card or mobile wallet, you can support homelessness prevention services that help people facing crisis move towards safety, stability and independence. The machines have been given a fresh new look to stand out in busy areas and make giving safely and meaningfully even easier.

Turning Generosity into Real Change

The Tap to Donate machines are part of the Real Change Not Loose Change campaign, introduced by MyMiltonKeynes BID, offering an alternative to giving cash directly on the street. All donations are paid into a dedicated fund managed by the Milton Keynes Community Foundation on the BID's behalf, ensuring every contribution goes directly to trusted local charities.

Since launching in 2019, the scheme has raised £29,568, funding vital support including emergency shelter, hot meals, advice services and long-term pathways out of homelessness.

Where to Tap to Donate

You can find the refreshed Tap to Donate machines at key locations across the city centre:

  • Milton Keynes Train Station
  • Marks & Spencer (Food Department door)
  • Midsummer Place (near Popeyes)
  • Midsummer Place (beside Wingstop and Zara)
  • Leonardo Hotel window
  • centre:mk (outside H Beauty on Midsummer Arcade)
  • Xscape (outside Slim Chickens)

Supporting Local Charities Making a Difference

Donations from the Tap to Donate machines help fund organisations such as UnityMK, which provides year-round support for people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. This includes emergency shelter in winter, hot meals, welfare advice and help into stable accommodation.

UnityMK is currently supporting around 10 new people each week who need urgent help, with Tap to Donate playing a key role in sustaining this frontline work.
