Midsummer Place enters a new era as significant retailer transformation gets underway

Over the coming weeks, visitors to Midsummer Place shopping centre will start to see building works commence, with hoarding installed across several areas including Oak Court and former units such as Barclays and GAP. These initial works mark the start of an ambitious redevelopment programme that will see a number of highly anticipated new retailers arrive at the centre throughout 2026.
The projects have been in development for many months – and in some cases years – and represent a significant long-term investment in the future of Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes. While the names of the incoming brands cannot yet be revealed, the centre has confirmed that retailer announcements will be made as soon as possible.
Throughout the redevelopment period, disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum, with all surrounding retailers remaining open and trading as usual.
The transformation builds on a hugely successful period for the centre. In 2025, Midsummer Place welcomed the UK’s largest Lane7, significantly expanding its leisure offer and helping to attract tens of thousands of additional visitors each week. Other notable openings last year included Popeyes, Søstrene Grene, Smoke & Pepper and a newly refurbished Hollister, all contributing to increased footfall and longer dwell time.
The centre has also seen continued confidence from existing occupiers, most recently demonstrated by the reinvestment and reopening of HSBC, which unveiled a modernised branch this week with an enhanced customer service offering.
Simon Martin, Centre Manager at
Midsummer Place, said:
“This is a hugely exciting time for Midsummer Place. The works visitors will start to see are the visible signs of plans that have been carefully developed over a long period of time. We’re investing heavily in the future of the centre and in bringing brands and experiences that we know our customers want. While there will be some short-term change on site, the long-term result will be a stronger, more diverse destination for Milton Keynes.”
Further updates and retailer announcements will be shared in the coming months as the next phase of Midsummer Place’s Milton Keynes redevelopment continues.
