One of the world's most iconic musicals is heading back to Milton Keynes.
Producers David Ian for Crossroads Live, in association with Barry and Fran Weissler, have announced the 2027 UK and Ireland tour of Chicago the Musical, which will arrive at
Milton Keynes Theatre from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 September 2027.
Set in the glitz, glamour and corruption of 1920βs Chicago, the award-winning musical follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who finds herself at the centre of a sensational murder trial. Determined to avoid conviction, Roxie turns to Chicago's most cunning lawyer, using media attention and celebrity culture to transform her crime into headline news.
Created by musical theatre legends John Kander, Fred Ebb and renowned choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago features some of the most recognisable songs in musical theatre, including "All That Jazz", "Cell Block Tango" and "Razzle Dazzle".
A global phenomenon, Chicago has won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award. It also holds the distinction of being the longest-running American musical in both Broadway and West End history.
Since its Broadway revival opened in New York in 1996, Chicago the Musical has been performed in 38 countries and translated into numerous languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Korean. Worldwide, the production has been seen by more than 35 million people and has played over 36,000 performances.
Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The acclaimed 1996 Broadway revival was choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse, directed by Walter Bobbie and produced by Barry and Fran Weissler.
Whether you're a lifelong musical theatre fan or experiencing it for the first time, Chicago remains one of the most electrifying productions to grace the stage, combining unforgettable music, dazzling choreography and timeless storytelling.
